At the University of Nairobi, the Africa Regional Resilience Dialogue opened with urgency: nature crimes are not just environmental issues; they are part of a global organized crime economy worth billions. According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, wildlife trafficking alone generates between USD 7–23 billion annually, ranking among the world’s most lucrative illegal trades alongside drugs, arms, and human trafficking.

On Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026, the U.S. Embassy in Kenya, in partnership with the Africa Centre for the Study of the United States of America (ACSUS) at the University of Nairobi, convened a virtual information session on the 2027–2028 Fulbright Foreign Student and Visiting Scholar Programs. The event brought together Kenyan students, scholars, and professionals for a comprehensive briefing on one of the most prestigious academic exchange initiatives in the United States.

The Africa Center for the Study of the United States (ACSUS) was established by the Institute of Diplomacy and International Studies (IDIS) at the University of Nairobi on November 11th, 2022.
