Liberty University, a private university in Virginia, United States has collaborated with Africa Center for the Study of the US (ACSUS)- University of Nairobi to host a virtual annual Model of African Union Simulation (MAU) Conference.
AU Virtual Model of African Union Simulation Conference is an exercise that brings together students from Africa and the United States to engage in diplomatic discussions on pressing issues affecting the African continent.
This virtual summit provides participants with a unique opportunity to assume the roles of African presidents, ministers, and ambassadors, simulating real-world decision-making processes within the African Union (AU).
Students from the University of Nairobi and Liberty University are grouped into representative African nations and collaborate on drafting resolutions/communiqués, mirroring the complex negotiations and policymaking procedures of actual AU summits. Through rigorous debate, consensus-building, and strategic policy discussions, students develop critical skills in diplomacy, governance, and international relations.
The program aims to promote engaging conversations between African and American stakeholders on critical challenges on the continent, while also providing students with essential diplomatic training and leadership skills. It focuses on collaboration in international affairs and prepares future professionals in diplomacy, policy, and national security to tackle complex global issues.
